National School Lunch, Breakfast and Snack Programs

Malik Academy/ Al Bustan Preschool offers free and reduced breakfast, lunch and snack (snack is offered for students who participate in the after school program.) Food is catered from a Halal restaurant and lunches are delivered daily.

Malik Academy follows the USDA requirements for healthy and low calorie meals.

Families may apply for the program at the beginning of the year or any time after that. Families who qualify for the free or reduced prices will have their children receive the meals daily for the reduced price or for free, accordingly. The information provided on the application will be used to determine eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year.

The following household size and income criteria will be used for determining eligibility. Families whose income is at or below the levels shown are eligible for free and reduced price meals.

Children who are members of households receiving assistance from SNAP (The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); or FDPIR (Food Distribution Program or Indian Reservations); or TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families are eligible for free meals. No application is required for those households. Please contact the school if your children were not listed on the eligibility notice.

If the child is categorized as homeless, migrant or runaway as defined by law, s/he is eligible for free meals.

Please contact the school if your household/child receives benefits under any program mentioned above.

Households who choose to decline the free meals benefit should contact the school.

Malik Academy/ Al Bustan Preschool prohibits discrimination against its staff and students on the base of race, color, national origin, disability or if all or part of individual’s income is derived from public assistance program, or protected genetic information in any program or activity conducted or funded by the government.
